Illien Adoptions International, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit child welfare organization licensed by the Department of Human Resources of the State of Georgia as a child placing organization. The Agency was founded by Anna Belle Illien in 1982. For over 26 years, Illien Adoptions International, Inc. has provided professional domestic and international adoption services and home study services. Since its beginning, the Agency has assisted several thousand children from the following countries to find permanency: India, Ethiopia, Nepal, Peru, El Salvador, Guatemala, Ecuador, Paraguay, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Costa Rica, Honduras, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, Jamaica, Ghana, Nigeria, and Venezuela.
Since 1982 there have been shifts, changes, and evolution in the adoption practices of all of the countries in the world. Today, Illien Adoptions International, Inc. is part of a greater global adoption community where memberships, licenses and accreditations are important to establish networking, partnerships, associations and territorial authorizations. Since first licensed, Illien Adoptions International, Inc. has been an active member of the Joint Council on International Children’s Services, the oldest and largest affiliation of licensed non-profit international adoption organizations in the world. www.jcics.org.
Illien Adoptions International, Inc. is a member in good standing of the Atlanta Better Business Bureau and the Georgia Association of Licensed Adoption Agencies.
Illien Adoptions International, Inc. has been granted a Certificate of Accreditation by the Council on Accreditation to provide adoption services in connection with adoptions under The Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption for incoming and outgoing adoption cases.
Illien Adoptions International, Inc. holds a Certificate of Enlistment (number 16/2005) as one of the foreign agencies recognized by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India.
Illien Adoptions International, Inc. holds a Certificate of Authorization (number 2538) from the Ministry of Justice of the Government of Ethiopia.
Illien Adoptions International, Inc. is on the list of approved agencies by the Ministry of Women, Children, and Welfare of the Government of Nepal.
Illien Adoptions International, Inc. has been authorized (through resolution number 596-2009-MIMDES-SNA) by the National Secretariat of Adoptions (SNA) under the Ministry of Women and Social Development (MIMDES), to provide adoption services in Peru.
The Agency has applied for similar authorizations from other governments, namely Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia, which have been favorably received and which are under review and pending approval.
Over the years, Illien Adoptions International, Inc. has expanded its scope of activities from the adoption of a few abandoned children by permanent families to facing the causes of abandonment and finding support, integration and acceptance for abandoned children inside of their communities. It is the goal and hope of Illien to increase the awareness of this need to help the maximum number of the world’s abandoned and destitute children by involving adoptive families, their extended family members, friends, and interested people to become a part of a broader effort to help the legion of children throughout the world who may never have the opportunity to have a permanent family, but who need our help to become healthy and productive members of their community of origin. In this endeavor, Illien Adoptions International, Inc. is working in partnership with the Illien Foundation for Children, Inc. to create a safe haven for homeless children in the country of their birth. We believe that stable communities are key to stable countries which contribute to building a peaceful world.
This global initiative begins for all of us when we care about making life better for one child.
